UJIA Solidarity Appeal

The Federation of Synagogues recently made a gift to the UJIA Solidarity Appeal to purchase toy packs for children in shelters in the north of Israel.

The Federation has received a reply thanking the Federation for its generous gift and stating as follows:-

With your help the UJIA is providing safety, security and recreational equipment for these affected families. In addition, funds are being spent in organising recreational summer camps for 6-14 year olds, which provide a safe and secure framework for these children at risk.

In these challenging and difficult times, your generosity is making a meaningful difference to the lives of these families in our partnership region - the Galil.

In response to the difficult situation in Israel, the Federation has responded to the UJIA Solidarity Appeal by making a substantial donation for the purchase of educational toys.

SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Henry Grunwald QC
President
Board of Deputies of British Jews 25 July 2006

Dear Henry,

Many congratulations to all those responsible in the organising of Sunday's rally. It was an immense effort at short notice and the end result was spectacular. Let us all hope and pray that we have the opportunity to attend future rallies for joyous occasions.

Kindest regards,
Alan

Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks
Office of the Chief Rabbi 25 July 2006

Dear Chief Rabbi shlita,

I am writing to say how beautifully you spoke at Sunday's rally. Your speech, delivered so forcefully and emotionally, expressed all our hopes and aspirations to see Israel live in peace with its neighbours and for its very existence to be validated. May we all merit to see the fulfilment of our prayer

Ufros soukas shlomcho al kol yoshvai sevel artsecho
Spread the tabernacle of Your peace upon all the dwellers on earth."

Kindest regards,
Alan Finlay
